Workshop FOUNDATIONS OF PROJECT-BASED EDUCATION - 8.04.2025
Join us for a workshop in which you explore the what, how and why of PBE.
Project-based education (PBE) is one way to foster the competencies that students need as they start their careers in a rapidly evolving world. Luckily, PBE is also a highly engaging way to make teaching relevant and interesting to an audience that demands more from their university education. But what, exactly, does project-based education look like, and how does it work? How do we ensure our students are well-equipped to navigate a changing world? And at the same time, how can we make our courses fun and engaging?
In this 2-hour session you will learn:
- What the key features of PBE are
- How PBE supports a competence-oriented education approach
- Why PBE can be a personal development opportunity for faculty
- How to do PBE at scale
- What else you might need to think about as you plan your first PBE class
With its long history and modern relevance, PBE can look daunting, but this workshop will give you the insights you need to dive right in and make your teaching more impactful and engaging.
The workshop is hosted by Dr. Emily Elsner, Educational Developer at PBLabs , a strategic initiative at ETH Zurich.
