Inauguration of the ENHANCE “Winter School in Data Literacy. Data Literacy in Space” at WUT
On November 3, 2025, the inauguration of the on-site part of the ENHANCE “Winter School in Data Literacy – Data Literacy in Space” took place. The event was organised by Warsaw University of Technology in cooperation with the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Politecnico di Milano. Thanks to funding from NAWA, 31 students from 6 ENHANCE universities participated in the winter school.
The inauguration was attended by Piotr Pałka, PhD, from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Agnieszka Wendland, PhD, and Monika Piotrkowska, MA, from the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography, and Piotr Szczepański from the Centre for International Cooperation.

On Tuesday, November 4, a trip was organised to the CENAGIS laboratories in Józefosław, which opened in 2023. Students attended lectures by invited guests and witnessed a demonstration of a Mars rover in the field.
Prof. Robert Olszewski and Agnieszka Wendland, PhD, from the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography gave a lecture on the model of the Mars terraformation process. Meanwhile, Piotr Pałka, PhD – the main organiser of the Winter School – presented topics related to data collection models on Mars.
Additionally, Karol Orzechowski, a student of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, gave a presentation on "What is Data Literacy and What Should We Know About It?" as well as on the processing of field data. Paweł Czepiec – a PhD student from the WUT Doctoral School – delivered an online presentation on the processing of data from the Ingenuity helicopters on Mars.

The ENHANCE “Winter School in Data Literacy. Data Literacy in Space” is one of the modules comprising the microprogram Certificate in Data Literacy . It took place online from October 20–24, 2025, and October 27–31, 2025, followed by an on-site session at WUT from November 3–7, 2025. The final part of the winter school will be conducted online from November 12–21, 2025.
The winter school will conclude with the presentation of student group projects and the preparation of final reports by each team. Participants who complete the winter school will receive 4 ECTS credits.
